A one-day oddities market inside Epiphany Center for the Arts, a historic 1885 church on Ashland. More than 40 vendors from Chicago and the Midwest sell dark art, oddities, taxidermy, antiques, gothic décor, jewelry and alternative fashion, with DJs playing darkwave, goth, industrial and metal.
Dead City Oddities Market takes over Epiphany Hall, inside the restored 1885 Church of the Epiphany on Ashland Avenue, for one Saturday in late October. More than 40 vendors from Chicago and around the Midwest set up with dark art, oddities, taxidermy, antiques, gothic home décor, jewelry and alternative clothing. DJ Invicta and DJ Saggitari play darkwave, goth, industrial and metal all day, and there's a photo booth, tarot readings, a caricature artist, tooth gems and raffles, plus cocktails at the bar. It's a good stop for anyone building out a Halloween look, hunting for a strange gift, or just curious about the scene. General admission is $8 plus fees, and children 12 and under get in free. The venue lists it as 17 and up with a valid ID, but guests under 17 can come with a parent. Doors are open from noon to 8 PM, so you can come early for the best pick of vendors or later for the music. Tickets are sold through DICE from the venue's page.
