A Southwest Side-adjacent haunted house in Oak Lawn running two attractions on select nights through Nov 1. Tickets are timed and cheaper online than at the door, and parking is free.
Midnight Terror is a homegrown haunted house on 111th Street in Oak Lawn, just past the city line from the Southwest Side. It runs select nights from late September through Nov 1, and a full walk-through takes about 30 minutes. This year's lineup on the official site includes Black Oak Grove, a town stuck on Halloween night; ShadowTek, a lab experiment gone wrong; and the Laugh Slash Carnival, a cursed carnival full of clowns. Between scares there's a midway with axe throwing, carnival games and quick escape rooms, plus an artist alley selling handmade horror goods. The organizer rates the show PG-13 and leaves the age call to parents, and families with little ones can come to a non-scary daytime trick-or-treat on Sat Oct 24 from noon to 2 PM. Tickets are timed and run at least $5 cheaper online than at the door. Practical tip: doors open at 7 PM, and the haunt says arriving right at opening means shorter waits; earlier-season dates and Sundays are lighter than late October. Parking is free, with an overflow shuttle. Wear closed-toe shoes, skip masks and prop weapons if you're in costume, and know that photos and filming aren't allowed inside.
