Griffin MSI opens its holiday season in Hyde Park: the four-story Grand Tree is lit, more than 50 trees honor countries and cultures from around the world, and local cultural groups perform all day. Included with general admission.
The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry in Hyde Park starts the holidays every year with a day-long festival, and this year it lands on Saturday, November 7. The centerpiece is the lighting of the museum's four-story Grand Tree, surrounded by more than 50 trees decorated by Chicago volunteers to represent the holiday traditions of different countries and cultures.
Local cultural organizations perform throughout the day, Stan's Donuts is on hand, and there is holiday shopping in the museum. The festival kicks off Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light, which runs through the holidays (the museum hasn't posted the closing date yet). Everything is included with general admission.
