Look, I know they’ve been blowing up lately, and for good reason. My wife and I tried to hit Lindy’s a while back, but the line was wrapped around and they were at capacity—they couldn’t even take new folks. That’s how you know it’s the real deal. We’re definitely a little late to the party, but man, I’m just glad we finally made it in.
It’s got that snug, neighborhood-corner-diner feel. Don’t get me wrong, they’ve got plenty of tables—diner-style seating for groups and some larger setups—but when we rolled up, it was packed and all that was left were two-seaters. It’s tight, but that just adds to the atmosphere. You aren’t there to lounge for hours; you’re there for the food.

The Service
What really set it off was the service. You go to some of these spots when they get busy and the staff is stressed, but not here. The young man waiting on us was on point. I heard it’s a family-run business—that those were the owners’ kids working the floor—and I can’t say for 100% sure, but the way they handled that rush? They were doing a great job regardless.
The Grub
We went in for a bite and ended up with a feast. The cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches were solid—definitely on par with the best local spots. The onion rings and fries were exactly what you want, but the mozzarella sticks? They were something else. If you’re deciding what to pair with your meal, go for the sticks.

The Verdict
Honestly, you walk in there and you have to ask yourself: is this Lindy’s Chili, or is it an ice cream shop? Because they’ve got so much ice cream, it almost makes you wonder. We came for the food, but we know for a fact we’re coming back just for the desserts.

The crazy part? It’s called Lindy’s Chili, and we didn’t even grab the chili this trip! Next time we head back, we’re ordering a bowl and posting the pics so you can see it for yourselves. And you better believe we’re pairing that chili with a banana split.
If you’re on the South Side, you gotta stop by—just be ready for a crowd. The secret has been out for a minute, but it’s worth the trip.
